Dissent Of The Day

A reader writes:

Ok, I read you a lot and can usually take it when I disagree with you with a grain of salt, but this time I actually feel insulted. Being a middle aged black woman (from Chicago), I take issue with your post where you say we are perpetuating racism because we don't like Obama. Whether or not he would survive to take office is something I won't address, since there's no way to know, but I really doubt that's the reason he's not got a stronger base of support in the black community. I can only speak for myself, but I think if he were to run with the same bio and credentials and were white, none of the media would be giving him the time of day. Maybe the middle class black folks aren't flocking to his side because we don't really see anything of substance to draw us there, and are not willing drink the kool-aid just because he's black.
