The China Syndrome

09 Oct 2007 10:16 am

Clemons and Fallows do a tag-team on those urging more pressure on Beijing over Burma. I take the point about hyper-ventilating, and about the need to deal with China soberly, especially after the Iraq disaster. But I don't see any harm in trying to use what leverage we can to persuade the Chinese to stop facilitating one of the most heinous regimes on the planet. We appear to have made some modest progress with NoKo on that front. No, I'm not Kristol who is urging "limited military actions". But war and complete inertia are not the only two options.
