A reader writes:
Glad you're coming around. The fact is, yours and others fear about
this event is strikingly similar to the "defensive crouch" that the
democratic party normally operates from. Far from being an act of
hubris, this is both a celebration of a lot of hard work and of the
only country in the history of the world where something like this is
even possible. It is nothing to be ashamed of.
