"A Fatal Cancer"

I referred to David Brooks' acknowledgment on Monday in New York that Sarah Palin was not qualified to be president or vice-president earlier today. Here's a more extensive report on the event. I forgot that David said that Palin "represents a fatal cancer to the Republican party," by which he meant not a preference for practical over theoretical wisdom, but a celebration of ignorance and know-nothingism. Palin and Bush do not merely have scorn for liberal ideas; they have a scorn for ideas as a whole.
