I voted today in Franklin County, Ohio, home of Columbus, the State
government and The Ohio State University. I wanted to share with you my
observations and my experience at the polls today...
I arrived at the Veterans' Memorial Auditorium near
the center of downtown Columbus and got in line at about 12:15pm. I was expecting
a line, a long one even. As it turned out there were easily 300 people,
maybe more, in line to vote when I arrived and perhaps a few
more when I left. The line moved fairly well and overall the operation
was well run. Ultimately it took me over an hour and a half to vote
though. This was an eye-opener. A telling statistic - I counted one
section of the line around me and found 13 of the 29 apparent voters
were African-American. Wow!
