Obama's Promises

Jed Lewison rounds them up:

My view is that we should try to understand an administration's duty to enforce existing laws, like DOMA, but we should not rest until the fierce urgency of our equality is taken seriously by this president and, perhaps more pertinently, this Congress. Our job is not to find reasons to defend inaction, but to make the case for action. Because it is the right thing to do.

I do not believe that the president is a cynic on this. But I do believe that he is being a little too clever by half in all this. He was elected in part because of the next generation. He is letting them down - and those of us struggling to keep our marriages together because of DOMA deserve the support of this president, not a comparison of our families to incest, in whatever venue, in whatever form.
