Helena Andrews strains to find a racial angle to the Semenya story. TNC isn't seeing it:

I think part of the problem is most of Andrews quotes come from people who work in the world of fashion. But the aesthetics of fashion aren't the same as the aesthetics of men, or even women (that said Liye Kebede is just murderous.) Maybe other dudes are different, but I don't exactly look to fashion week for a parade of the world's most beautiful women.

Aye. A better gauge of beauty norms would be top-earning actresses (Halle Berry is one). Few people, especially straight men, are paying to see fashion shows. Tall, rail-thin women are preferred because clothes hang on them better, not because anorexia turns guys on.
