A Butte Story

Lady

A reader writes:

Seeing that window view from Butte, Montana, where I grew up near, I immediately thought of "Our Lady of the Rockies."  On top of one of the peaks overlooking the city is a 90 foot tall, pure white statue of the Virgin Mary.  Rumor has it, Our Lady originated from an answered prayer.  A man, whose wife was sick from cancer, prayed to God and promised to build a giant statue of the Virgin Mary if his wife ever recovered from her illness. When she became well, the man stayed true to his promise and constructed the statue. During the night, it's lit up and can be seen from 100 miles away.

The statue is the second largest in the US.
